There is a poem that I like called “Construction” by Patricia Hubbell. It uses clever wording and comparisons, for example, it says that Construction workers are like spiders, and that the unfinished house is like a spider web. The poem says that the workers running along the 2x4s are like spiders spinning a net. It helps the reader picture spiders working on the web, as well as helps them to see the men building the house. When she says that the house frames are dangling in the sun, it is imaginative because it makes in-progress buildings and spider-webs seem the same. Poems are made to show things to readers in a different way than they normally would think about it. In this poem, there are a lot of comparisons, metaphors, similes, and descriptive language. This poem was well planned and very well written.
